รางวัลนี้เป็นการสะท้อนธีมของงาน Red Hat Forum ปีนี้ที่ว่า ‘Impact of The Individual’ เพื่อยกย่องและฉลองความสำเร็จขององค์กรที่นำโอเพนซอร์สมารับมือกับความท้าทายด้านไอที เพื่อเปลี่ยนผ่านและนำเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศมาช่วยเร่งการสร้างนวัตกรรม เพื่อเป้าหมายที่ยิ่งใหญ่ขึ้นและมีประสิทธิภาพดีขึ้น องค์กรที่ได้รับรางวัลได้รับการประเมินผลจากกลุ่มผู้เชี่ยวชาญของเร้ดแฮท

การประกาศรางวัลนี้จะกระทำในทุกๆ ประเทศที่มีการจัดกิจกรรม Red Hat Forum ผู้ได้รับรางวัลในปีนี้เป็นบริษัทจากหลากหลายอุตสาหกรรม เช่น ธนาคาร การเงิน ภาครัฐ ประกันภัย เทคโนโลยี โทรคมนาคม และอุตสาหกรรมการขนส่ง
