Energy Regulatory Commission to host the 6th International Forum for cooperation and develop to reinforce Energy 4.0 Policy

Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Thailand will host the 6th International Energy Forum 2017 under the theme “Towards Smart Regulation” to reinforce “Thailand 4.0” and “Energy 4.0” policy on June 30, 2017, at Plaza Athénée Bangkok.

Regarding the 6th International Energy Forum, Mr. Viraphol Jirapraditkul, ERC Commissioner, stated that the ERC has been organising the forum annually since 2010. Moreover and succeeded in its endeavour to push for the realisation of ASEAN Energy Regulators’ Network (AERN) comprising ASEAN countries, with the aim to forge cooperation and good relations among energy regulatory agencies around ASEAN. The network also acts as a knowledge exchange and experience sharing platform, with the aim to elevate the status of the energy regulatory agency to international level and enhance its standard to benefit all stakeholders more effectively. The ERC has organised five such forums so far. Each forum has been tied to the situation or government energy policy at the time.

Mr. Viraphol stated that for the 6th International Energy Forum under the theme “Towards Smart Regulation” has introduced “Energy 4.0” policy with the aim to reinforce the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy then will enhance the cooperation and good relations among energy regulatory agencies around ASEAN. The network also acts as a knowledge exchange and experience sharing platform, with the aim to elevate the status of the energy regulatory agency to international level among ASEAN ENERGY REGULATORS’ NETWORK : AERN. Other objectives of Energy 4.0 are to encourage the creation of new energy-related innovations that will help modernise Thai businesses and enable them to compete in global markets.

“The success of the 6th International Energy forum,” stated by Mr. Viraphol, “will invigorate the scheme to prompt the development of Thailand in accordance with Thailand 4.0 and Energy 4.0. The scheme will contribute to research and development advancement, human resource development, technological advancement, and energy industry promotion.”
