Chulalongkorn University and Blackmores Institute sign MOU to exchange the knowledge of Complementary Medicine
Assist. Prof. Dr. Rungpetch Sakulbumrungsri, Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, has revealed after signing in the academic cooperation with Blackmores Institute, Australia that at present, Complementary Medicine has a role in the field of treatment, promotion, protection and care of health as well as the people have used the products helped to take care of health more and more. Our Faculty has improved the curriculum to respond to the requirement of the society, has had more subjects related to Complementary Medicine in order to teach the undergraduate student because at the time of his or her graduation, the pharmacist shall have the correct knowledge and be ready to give advice to the people for using Complementary Medicine correctly.
Therefore, signing in the academic cooperation at this time is advantageous to our Faculty because there will be an exchange of the educational personnel, cooperation in the field of research work and it is probable to invite the expert from Blackmores Institute to lecture some knowledge to the teachers and undergraduate students of the University because Blackmores Institute is the organization in the academic and research fields, has the specialization in using Complementary Medicine, has some research and develops some knowledge in this field all the time. It is expected that between both of the institutes, there will be the making of research work and academic training together in the future.
Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences further states that at present, the academic work in the field of Complementary Medicine is growing up and Food and Drug Administration has stipulated the guideline of supervision in this matter by cooperating with our Faculty to make a guideline of approving the product to be registered and our Faculty is specialized in this matter and from exchanging the knowledge with Blackmores Institute, it is therefore necessary to help and support the guideline of this work.
Dr. Lesley Braun Director of Blackmores Institute Australia, states that Blackmores Institute has been established to support and develop the knowledge on Complementary Medicine by giving the knowledge, research and finding the new innovation and there is a cooperation with various educational institutes in order to study and search for the research work both in Australia and the countries in the Asian Region. The Institute believes that working together with the leading educational institute of each country will help and support the knowledge of such country better. Signing in the academic cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University at this time will be the development of the academic and research work very well because it is the educational institute where is famous and has the good quality of the country.
